Ghost Festival

I think it was Ghost Festival today, lots of people standing around outside their shops burning ghost money to pay homage to their ancestors and stuff. Lots of ``sacrifices'' too, tables full of food. Admittedly, it'd be a little more traditional to have traditional fare such as rice cakes and dumplings rather than bottles of Coke and candy bars, but I guess Taiwan's ancestors move with the times. All the ``sacrifices'' are eaten afterwards anyway, so I guess it's not such a big deal. But with all the fires it seems likely that a few new ancestors may be created through accidental incineration :) Justwish I'd remembered to bring my digicam, ah well.
