Random Pyjamas
Well, it's week 2 in Shanghai, and the random oddness of the place is quite interesting. In Taiwan I had the pleasure of gorging upon Venetian-smoked-chicken-with-basil flavoured potato chips. Here in the whore of the Orient I have the dubious pleasure of feasting upon lemon flavoured ones. Why lemon? Why not? God knows how many concotions they came up with before that was approved? I'm just thankful that a red-bean flavour was never given the green light. Lessons are going really well, some of the best I've taught actually, thanks in no small part to the students. Thankfully they likely won't get a chance to read this, what with my blog being blocked from Chinese eyes. Yep, all my firebrand political extremism and vicious defamation of Mao must've really rattled the censors. Either that or the whole blogspot domain is blocked. Lucky for you guys I can still post, eh? More erratic (does it show that I just thesaurussed 'random') weirdness can be seen in that people wear pyjamas to go out at any time of day. I'm pretty bloody sure they're pyjamas anyway, often tastefully paired with stilletos or the like. I can't really sense the sartorial aim in this practice. I mean it's bad enough having your hair look like you just got out of bed*, but your whole dress? Or maybe Shanghai just has a large daytime sleepwalker population. * As opposed to having it styled specifically to look that way...these things matter, people. With all this random oddness, I'm trying to find a new and interesting way to stand out. Singing in the rain is always good, but it's been done before. Plus Shanghai's had little rain lately. Maybe I should moonwalk everywhere or wear my underwear on my head or something. Any suggestions are welcome.

It's me ducky. Very disappointed that I didn't get to see you before departing for China. Well it appears that you trip is a "mix-bag" of oddities, eh? I've heard about Shanghai from some of the Chinese people I work with. They are like "Ponsonby" women. Obsessed with necessities. Am I right? Will check blog from time to time, and send you an e-mail.
Good luck
