Food, inglorious food
Sweetcorn. Everywhere I look it's bloody sweetcorn, on every pizza, on every Western dish. Taiwanese cooks seem to be good at picking up ideas, such as ``All Westerners like sweetcorn''. Unfortunately they don't seem so good at letting go of these ideas. It seems that outside of the fast food chains, every Mom and Pop Western food outlet bungs sweetcorn on everything, be it pizza, spaghetti, whatever. You name it, it has it. Mind you, it seems that with any noodle dish you automatically get lettuce, not the first vege that springs to mind when you think about Chinese cuisine. As you can imagine I'm not really a fan of either of these veges. It disturbs me that I find this kind of stuff important enough to blog.
